3 Reasons to visit The Moseley this summer

The Moseley Bar and Kitchen is an award-winning venue located in a prime location on Adelaide’s most popular summer spot, Moseley Square at Glenelg Beach. With beautiful beachfront views and a mouthwatering menu, it’s not hard to see why patrons love The Moseley. Here’s why we’re hanging out at The Moseley this summer:

1. The Location

Where else would you spend your summer other than the beach?

With Moseley Square being just a forty minute tram ride from the city (half that by car), The Moseley Bar and Kitchen is at a location both easy-to-access and downright convenient for a refreshing swim on those scorching summer days. Being right by the shore, patrons can come in their beachwear and bathers for a relaxing day of good food and drinks without the hassle of a terribly strict dress code.

2. The Food

Having launched their new summer menu just a couple of weeks ago, The Moseley are offering a range of delicious, contemporary dishes this season.

For entrees, asparagus zuccini frittata, tomato consomme with diced prawn, lamb and pork terrine with apple jam and beef tartare are your options, providing a variety of meat and seafood plates as well as a vegetarian choice. Our personal favourite, the tomato consomme (or, you could refer to it as ‘cold soup’) is a particularly refreshing choice for a hot day and surprisingly bursts with flavour. In all honesty, all of the entrees really ‘blew us out of the water’…(yes, beach pun intended).

The new Hiramasa kingfish ceviche main is a light yet satisfying treat, served with grapefruit and beetroot dressing as well as parsley oil, combining flavours and creating new ones. If you’re after something heavier for your main, perhaps the pressed Barossa chicken will be your choice, prepared with duck dumplings, apricot puree and orange sauce. This dish was an expressed favourite amongst our table, with the duck dumplings being praised the most. The apricot and orange toppings really finished off the dish with a refreshing fruity touch; I’d highly recommend this dish.

And if you’re not totally stuffed by this point, go ahead and grab some dessert! There’s always room for the sweets. You can choose from either the raspberry and rosewater cheesecake, a blackberry bombe alaska or a chocolate brownie. The bombe alaska is served with blackberry parfait, mango sponge and meringue, and is perhaps the most visually appealing yet quite rich and creamy. So if you’d prefer something soft on the stomach, go for the chocolate brownie with almond meringue and orange, it’s slightly less dense.

3. The Drinks

The drinks are always flowing at The Moseley.

Beer fan? The Moseley offer Unpasteurised Carlton Draught on tap, meaning it is decanted directly from the beer tank and is kept chilled until delivered to the venue so customers can enjoy Carlton Draught at its freshest. With a lively malt taste profile and smoothness on the palate, it really is the ultimate summer beer. The beers don’t stop there, if you’d like to check out their full range, click here.

Just like their beer range, their wine range is equally impressive, offering a number of sparkling, red and white options sourced locally and abroad for the keen wine-drinker. However, our focus is on their cocktail menu and with an extensive 18 different cocktails up for grabs, its almost impossible to pick just one. Pink sangria, coco loco, blue Hawaiian, sloe gin fizz… they’re all sounding pretty fantastic to me!

If it’s nightime drinks you’re after, The Moseley host a wild night called Sundaze on Sundays, opening doors at 7pm til late with a rotation of great DJ’s and special guest appearances. Live Music Saturdays offers acoustics from 6pm and switches to DJ’s at 9pm til late. The Moseley are also throwing a massive New Years Eve party this year with tickets at $20 on the door from 7pm and is one not to be missed!
