A glittering Opening Gala for MSFW

A most glamorous Opening Gala saw Melbourne Spring Fashion Week shine with a whole lot of sparkling diamantes, sequins, metallic tones and silky fabrics on a stunning range of formal designer pieces.

The runway opened with a glittering collection of crystal-studded dresses by CRISTAHLEA, with gold metallic and undertones creating a truly ethereal aesthetic.

Bianca Spender followed after, showcasing one of our favourite outfits: a most beautiful textured metallic-pink pantsuit, with incredible structure on the shoulders and pants. The Sydney-based label is known for sculpted and tailored designs, and the structural pink pantsuit simply proved testament to this.

Another favourite collection was by Melbourne-based JASONGRECH, presenting luxurious flowing evening gowns that seemed to effortlessly glide down the runway, creating a fluid sense of movement with every step. The gowns were accessorised with artistic crown-like headpieces that added an element of royalty to these already prestigious designs.

OneDay offered a different angle to bridal design, with her pieces providing an inherently modern aesthetic that steers away from your conventional wedding dress. The Opening Gala paraded one of the absolute most breathtaking wedding dresses we’ve seen yet: an intricate cut-out, zig-zag patterned gown from OneDay which features delicate beaded fringing hanging from the sleeves and bust, as well as a high neck and shoulder cut-outs. A little daring and certainly not for everyone, this OneDay design was something so incredibly unique.
