A Peek into Lady Petrova Bridal

It’s not secret that we’re huge fans of Lady Petrova, so when we were invited to play dress-ups in a few of her new-season bridal gowns we simply couldn’t refuse!

Though it was a rainy and grey Melbourne day, inside Petrova’s atelier it was warm and bright. Hot cups of tea on floral porcelain china were waiting for us as we arrived, as were tiny little cupcakes in flavours of red velvet, Oreo, rainbow and salted caramel. Petrova was just finishing up with an exciting new client: a burlesque dancer that needed something special and unique designed for her wedding that only someone as creative and dreamy as Petrova could conjure up.

When it was time to select dresses to play around in, two gowns stood out to us like the moon in the sky.

Kristen fell in love with a 20’s-esque gown with a plunging neckline, lace sleeves and a stiff peplum. The fine lace train and fringed, draping sleeves made Kristen feel like she was Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, and the signature Lady Petrova touch of a sparkling crown completed this elegant, classic look.

Mel was drawn to a huge tulle creation that had delicate flowering across the deep neckline and a gorgeous cape flowing down from lace embellishments on the shoulders. At the waist the dress flies out into a giant, billowing skirt fit for any princess going to a ball. The skirt gets it’s stunning shape from a separate hoop skirt that slips on underneath the gown, much like the historical wire crinolines that ladies used to wear in the Victorian ages!

Though we only had a sneak preview of what Lady Petrova has planned for her new collection, we loved the fairytale aesthetic and the feel of classic elegance with a modern twist. We look forward to playing around in more dresses soon, and can’t wait to see what she has planned for the rest of the collection!
