For all you Adelaidians-at-heart across the border, where West End Draught is but a dream and lockout laws are non-existent, get excited because the Bank of Melbourne’s grassroots music competition Melbourne Music Bank is returning for its fourth annual run.

The program has experienced escalating success over the past two years in particular, unearthing Victorian-grown talent such as competition winners Heloise and Jade Alice.

Sponsored by the likes of Pandora, Tone Deaf, Music Feeds, Beat Magazine and, of course, brainchild of the Bank of Melbourne, Melbourne Music Bank’s $60,000 prize pool is enough to whet the appetite of any up-and-coming musician.

Entrants must submit an original song by the 27th of August, with the public casting votes to pick out four finalists from a shortlist of twelve. To pick a winner, the four lucky finalists will then perform in front of a board of music experts at Hamer Hall in Melbourne on the 25th of October this year.

The winner of the competition will be treated to a first-class rock star starter kit including everything from studio time to album art, from media training to a spot on the Beyond The Valley ticket, and more!

ARIA winner, and former lead singer of Killing HeidiElla Hooper is once again the ambassador for this year’s event.

So get writing, arranging, playing and rocking out, Victoria, so you can come to Adelaide and bring us some musical joy.
