Adelaide Fringe in Stirling

The trees were decorated with thick ribbons of scarlet, and to the pleasure of both adults and children, men dressed as giant kangaroos hopped around the gardens. I was mingling in the VIP section when two well-dressed staff members made their way around the guests serving sushi on a silver platter. From a white gazebo, a live band began to play.

This is a taste of the charm I experienced at the opening event for Stirling Fringe last night. Nestled in the beautiful scenery of the Adelaide Hills, this is the first year of the Stirling Fringe, a pocket-sized garden of various acts and bands, where you can capture the magic of the Adelaide Fringe on a more intimate and relaxed scale.

The Stirling Fringe houses stalls such as Miss Perez, a local kitchen and bar which serves contemporary Australian cuisine. If the heat is getting to you, Loca Pops can provide you with a wide range of gourmet organic popsicles that are sure to keep you satisfied. Once you’ve satisfied your hunger, you can check out acts such as Sam Perry Live; Anya Anastasia’s Pocket Universe; and Movin’ Melvin Brown: A Man, A Magic, A Music! Not only this, but there are plenty of children’s shows to keep the young ones happy as well.

Family friendly, incredibly relaxed, and extremely accessible, there is a completely different atmosphere to the Stirling Fringe. It will run until the 5th of March, so if you or someone you know is looking for a way to mix things up, I sincerely recommend coming down.
