Bottomless Brunch and Beats at John Salt

bottomless brunch and beats at john salt

If you’re after a bottomless brunch that takes as much pride in its food menu as it does in the drinks, John Salt is the place. Held every Saturday from 11am-3pm, you get brunch, beverages and free reign of the beats for £30 per person.

This particular Saturday we chose to go non-alcoholic with our drinks, but we can confirm that the virgin Bloody Mary’s pack just as much of a punch as the vodka-fuelled ones do. Rich and spicy they’re everything a Bloody Mary should be, and the perfect thing to kickstart your day with a whole load of Vitamin C. Other drinks available on the bottomless menu are prosecco and mimosas, so if you’re not a fan of punchy drinks there are other options available.

The food was the real star of the show here, though. Kristen gave the vegan breakfast a shot, and out of all the vegan/vegetarian breakfasts she’s had around London, this one would probably have to be the best. Rather than just taking the standard concept of a full English breakfast and replacing the meaty bits with veggie substitutes, John Salt’s vegan breakfast starts from scratch. Drool-worthy carrot and coriander sausages, baked beans, grilled mushrooms, a generous stack of hash browns, tomato, avocado and the tastiest sautéed spinach you ever did have were served alongside sourdough bread. You could tell the ingredients tasted fresh and were packed full of flavour, and the chefs knew how to work with the ingredients to ensure they were just as delicious as any meat-filled breakfast.

Mel went for the baked eggs and it did not disappoint. Coming out in a hot pot of chorizo and tomato sauce with avocado and sourdough on the side, it had all the makings of a hearty, wholesome breakfast. The egg and cheese on top was cooked to a golden brown hue and inside was a bursting pool of flavour as the spicy chorizo and creamy, rich tomato took over the tastebuds. A filling winter warmer, for sure.

At John Salt’s brunch, guests control the music. Either connect to their sound system via Bluetooth or share a Spotify playlist with them and they’ll play your tunes. As with everything its first in best dressed, and if your music taste is… questionable… your beats might get skipped. Not everyone likes to listen to death metal at 12pm on a Saturday, folks.
