BRKLYN’s new bites

Last week, East End hotspot BRKLYN launched a few brand new menu items, featuring a whole lot of tasty ‘murican inspired goodness.

We started our tasting session with a refreshing cocktail, sampling the likes of the latest addition: Lychee and Elderflower Collins. Fusing together a combination of gin, lychee, elderflower, lemon and spritz, this palatable concoction is without a doubt going to be the ultimate summer sipper.

New York-style Mini Hotdogs were the first dish to be served, complete with Vienna sausage, pickles, American mustard, tomato relish and shaved parmesan cheese on a brioche bun. Having recently travelled to the big NYC and experiened it for ourselves, we can safely say BRKLYN has quite successfully emulated the flavours of a bold ‘murican hotdog!

We also sampled what is sure to be the hottest new dish on BRKLYN’s menu, coming in the form of crunchy Mozzarella Sticks. Head Chef Jordan Christopher trialled long and hard to develop the perfect recipe for this dish and we think he’s come up with an absolute winner.

A serving is just $8 and the cheese sticks themselves are quite generous in size. After the initial crunch of the crumbed exterior, gooey mozzarella oozes out slowly in a weirdly attractive manner – we really couldn’t get enough of these heavenly textural treats.

To finish, we indulged in an ever so delicious Oreo Doughnut dessert, with crushed oreo’s and white chocolate creme de cacao filling a dense glazed doughnut. We would recommend sharing this highly sweet dish between two, seeing as the richness can be overpowering and it’s a pretty big dish!

BRKLYN is located 260a Rundle St, Adelaide, and is open Tuesday to Friday 4pm ’til late and Saturday 6pm ’til late.

[Update: BRKLYN now offers a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the East End and prides itself on being a speakeasy cocktail and gin bar]
