Chill Out at Biggies at Bertram

Off a side-street and down some dimly-lit stairs is where you’ll find Biggies at Bertram. This new underground bar is where you’ll want to sit out the rest of the winter blues, warm and throwing back quality brews.

Like a hybrid-baby of Ancient World and the old Supermild, you immediately feel at home from the moment you enter the bar. Here it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing sneans (ironically, of course) or a miniskirt and thigh-highs; everyone here just want to relax, listen to some cool beats and drink.

Purple lighting illuminates the bar and contributes to that grungy-at-home feel, while ramble-scramble seating dotted around the place allows for large groups or little duos to hang out comfortably. A DJ booth sits in the far corner, swimming in a sea of vinyls stacked in crates all around.

The bar is where you’ll find beers like the refreshing Swell Golden Ale or the heavy Barossa Brewing Chocolate Coffee Stout, as well as a number of SA craft beers in the fridge and tapped Espresso Martinis. You can also grab some complimentary fresh popcorn with your choice of flavouring: buffalo wings (the most popular), nachos, cheesy jalapeño, white cheddar or bacon cheddar.

Watch your popcorn though, as Biggie’s adorable resident pooch Billie Jean will sniff it out and come sit at our feet, hoping for some spillage. If you’re after something with a little more sustenance than popcorn, the pizza menu is sure to set you straight. All pizzas are delivered fresh from San Giorgio’s on Rundle Street, any time Biggie’s is open.

You can find Biggie’s at Bertram in the basement at 73 Grenfell Street, 12pm-12am Tuesday – Wednesday, 12pm-2am Thursday – Saturday and 4pm-12am Sundays.
