Last week at The Curious Squire, local designer Tori-Anne Gill of Dark Thorn Clothing hosted an exclusive preview to showcase her hauntingly beautiful ‘New Moon’ and ‘Rebirth’ collections.
The evening consisted of tasty refreshments by Curious Squire, with enough mozzarella sticks, chips and dip, crispy chicken drumsticks and strawberry champagne to feed a ravenous crowd.
Live models dressed in Dark Thorn Clothing showcased each piece from the collections, giving guests the chance to suss the designs in detail. Tori-Anne’s designs exude a distinct gothic-chic vibe, with a versatility that makes them easy to incorporate into everyday wear, too.
Having begun the label at just 18 years old in Mundoora – a small country town in South Australia – Tori-Anne has shown strong initiative and creativity from the get go.
“The idea for Dark Thorn Clothing was born out of the limited access to exciting, fashionable clothes in country South Australia,” explains Tori-Anne. “When finishing school, I was told to get a trade, a 9-5 job, to be a hairdresser or a beauty therapist – this wasn’t me!
“I think everyone can dream big, even those in small country towns.”
We recently created a look-book using Dark Thorn pieces to demonstrate the way in which Tori-Anne’s unique aesthetic can be incorporated into the modern, stylish wardrobe. We combined the pieces with designs and accessories from Australian Fashion Labels, Kookai and Forever New. Scroll down to view the looks!
