Photo Diary: Delicate Desserts at Maitre Choux

Eclairs are a classic dessert that we didn’t even know could get any better than the standard recipe, but Maitre Choux has shown us otherwise. Started in South Kensington by top pastry check Joakim Prat, the sweet treat hotspot prides itself on selling some of the best (if not the best) eclairs, choux and chouquettes.

Made from extremely light and delicate pastry, these delights come in a range of different classic and innovative flavours, filled with jams, creams, fruit purees and caramels. Each bite satisfies your sweet-tooth cravings without being overwhelmingly sugary or sickly, making them dangerously addictive.

As well as tasting like a dream, each flavour is decorated like a piece of artwork that deserved to be hung in the Louvre. From gold dust to chocolate and carefully placed fruit, it’s fortunate these treats aren’t in danger of melting or served hot as you’ll definitely spend a good chunk of time snapping them for the ‘gram.

We popped past the Dean Street Maitre Choux and sampled the Red Love Éclair and Very Dark Multi-Origin Chocolate Éclair, as well as some little chouquettes courtesy of Into App. Besides the decadent desserts, the venue is extremely aesthetic and the staff are wonderfully helpful, making Maitre Choux a truly lovely place to visit.

Kristen dressed for the occasion by wearing her new Reserved x Vogue maxi dress, a pair of thigh-high boots and some tassel earrings from Onio Boutique. Mel went for a little ‘French-chic’ aesthetic, pairing a neck scarf and baker boy hat with her fave white Pretty Little Thing tie shirt. You might say the look was particularly befitting the setting, oui?

If you wanted to visit Maitre Choux, they have venues dotted around central London including Dean Street Soho, South Kensington, Piccadilly and White City.
