Le Dîner En Blanc Preview

There’s arguably nothing more quintessentially ‘Summer’ than all white dress code, ice cold drinks and dinner under the open sky. What makes Le Dîner En Blanc different from just any event however, are the traditions and the ethos behind it. Brought to Adelaide for the third year in a row by the masterminds behind Adelaide Onsite Event Management and BubbleWrap Events, Le Dîner En Blanc promises to bring a touch of all things Parisian into the start of your festive season.

In 1988, François Pasquier invited his friends to a gathering at Bois de Boulogne park in Paris. Requesting they wear white and bring a friend, the tradition soon spread to other regions of France and then out to over 60 different countries.

Le Dîner En Blanc invites you to become part of a living, breathing installation centred around community – sharing in the revelry with strangers in a sea of white stretching as far as the eye can see. There are rules that must be followed however; strictly all white (no cream, no off white) from head to toe, and guests must bring their own tables, chairs and hampers.

On Thursday November 5th, Be Young PR hosted a magical preview of Le Dîner En Blanc at the Botanic Gardens. Seated at a long table featuring Pierre de Ronsard rose centrepieces in jars and fairy lights entwined through mini painted white trees, we were whisked away to a scene from Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Sparklers and joy!

Beverages chilled on ice by Tomich Wines provided the perfect relief from the warm weather. Straight off the back of winning a global prize for Best Packaging for their signature gold bee emblem, the rebranded Tomich Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and refreshing.

The menu for the evening was curated by The Haus Hahndorf, served in the form of various platters that will be available for purchase on the evening of the actual LDEB event. House marinated olives, triple crème brie and soft sourdough were matched with thickly cut slices of smoked chicken and tender braised veal. Cherry tomatoes in olive oil, smoked salmon and golden crumb croquettes were also a delicious venture into the many offerings of catering by The Haus. Rich, chocolate ganache tarts with a firm buttery crust whispered sweet nothings for Dessert (not to mention the perfection of the handmade white and dark chocolate ganache truffles that took willpower not to eat in one bite!).
