Drawing a doggo with Social Studio London

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you feel like you’re the embodiment of the ‘This is fine’ meme?

This one.

Same. While our lives are a whole lot of fun, sometimes things can get pretty hectic and we’d like nothing more than to take a step back and have a little bit of time for ourselves.

Social Studio London helps people do just that by connecting them back to their creative sides. We went along to CAYA Club in Brixton one chilly Thursday evening for a night of therapeutic drawing, joined by a real-life doggo as a model.

Everyone from beginners to pros are welcome at Social Studio, and you don’t have to bring anything along. When we arrived everything was set up at a table before us, including drawing paper, a variety of lead pencils, coloured pencils, sharpeners and erasers.

Even food was provided for everyone to nibble on happily while petting the dog or doodling away on paper, and wine, beer and cider was also available for purchase.

To begin with, we were guided through a number of different expressive exercises where we experimented with exaggerated techniques. Then we were allowed free reign to draw the beautiful doggo as we wished, with the only real challenge being when the dog moved! All in all, he was a very good boy and sat still for most of the class, patiently waiting for us to present him with our finished pieces.

If you’d like to take a little midweek break, head to Social Studio’s Facebook page and give them a like to keep up to date with upcoming events.
