Eurovision Winner to Join Feast Festival 2015

It’s Adelaide’s most colourful time of the year again and this time, our annual LGBTIQ extravaganza, Feast Festival, is promising an impressive lineup of local, national and international talent.

Conchita Wurst, Eurovision’s talented 2014 winner, is set to be flying in to Australia all the way from her home country, Austria, to host a special night at our very own Feast Fest: The Art of Drag – A Night With Conchita (to be held 15th November).

Conchita, renowned for being a fabulous bearded lady and drag queen with the voice of an angel, says she is extremely excited to celebrate diversity and queer culture in Adelaide with many people from Australia and abroad. “In Australia – just like my home country Austria – the LGBTIQ community is allowed to express themselves freely and through their chosen lifestyle,” she explains.

“But let’s not forget that while we’re celebrating progress in a growing number of countries around the world, there are people who need our support because they live in one of too many places where inequity is more common than equality, where discrimination affects people more than inclusion, and where anti-gay laws are in place. Let’s make sure we show them our support and let them know we did not forget about them so they can soon live a life of freedom too.”

The event will be particularly special as it will be Conchita’s very first time performing live in Australia. So Adelaide, you will be her very first impression of the country – let’s make this count!

Feast held it’s official program launch just last night, opening the celebration with live performances by talented singers and artists in Rundle Mall and continuing on with a VIP party held at the Hotel Richmond.

There are people who need our support because they live in one of too many places where inequity is more common than equality, where discrimination affects people more than inclusion, and where anti-gay laws are in place.

Channel 10 came to join the party, cutting live to feathered dancers and rainbow-covered warriors making a scene in the mall alongside an enthusiastic crowd of supporters.

Guests were handed goodie bags and a copy of the program, featuring the total list of Feast festivities including highlights such as Thomas Jaspers smash hit comedy night, Always the Bridesmaid, premiere screening of an award-winning LGBTIQ film, All About E, and Mr Boylesque SA winner, Jolie performing a powerful night called My Prerogative.
