The Made in SA exhibition, held last weekend, featured stalls representing some of our favourite homegrown South Australian brands as part of the launch for Adelaide Convention Centre’s new West Building.
Covering a two-day period over Friday and Saturday, the exhibit showcased some of South Australia’s finest meats, alcoholic beverages, organic goods, fashion collections, jewellery and art. Also hosting a range of stalls including leading industries in education, research, transport, emergency services and more, it’s safe to say the Made in SA exhibition essentially had it all.
A notable stall held by San Jose Smallgoods previewed an inviting arrangement of hand-crafted, quality meats bore exclusively from the likes of female, South Australian pigs. Using hand-selected carcasses, the makers at San Jose strive to produce gluten-free pork with no fillers or pre-mixes to attain an authentic, natural flavour of meat. Cured and air-dried for months on the bone, San Jose provide quality meats of all-sorts including variants of prosciutto, salami, chorizo, pork fat, pork scotch fillets, wagyu, bacon and more. With a range of these meats up for grabs at the Made in SA exhibition, visitors were going nuts for more. Having won numerous awards already, it is no wonder San Jose got so much praise for its stall.
Everyone’s favourite South Australian chocolate brand, Haigh’s Chocolate, had one of the most extravagant stalls held over the two days, promoting their brand with an impressive mini-factory display showing the chocolate-making process up-front. With tastings of dark-chocolate chunks and milk chocolate sprinkles, the stall was absolutely irresistible. The exhibition also gave Haigh’s the chance to begin selling their Easter assortments, of which there were many!
Another insightful display was put on by Everett Brookes, a custom, hand-made jewellery store based in Adelaide. On display was the intricate process of bending and shaping expensive metals under a hot flame, with the jeweller giving a step-by-step follow through of the procedure to interested viewers. Presenting a range of their finest pieces in glass cases, Everett Brookes certainly showcased the best of what Adelaide has to offer in the field of quality jewellery design.
In addition, amazing Adelaide fashion designer, Liza Emanuele, and equally exquisite menswear designer, Peter Shearer Menswear, joined forces to launh their A/W15 collections as part of the Made in SA exhibition, and there is no doubt they both absolutely wowed attendees!
