FALLING IN LOVE WITH LADY BURRA

Lady Burra Brewhouse, Adelaide’s first and only microbrewery, opened her doors to the public on Friday last week. Complete with bar and kitchen, the beer aficionados of this great city will be frothing.

The Adelaidian was lucky enough to get in early and experience the brews and chews on offer before they officially opened to the public later that evening.

Lady Burra’s beer assortment has been carefully brewed and selected by local boy Taylor Cox. So far, they have perfected American pale ale, Irish red ale, Czech style pilsner and a dark ale. My personal favourite was the Irish red ale. It’s the least bitter of their selection and bright red in colour, with a caramel flavour and a slight spiciness to the finish.

The in-house brews are currently exclusively on tap at Lady Burra Brewhouse. They have plans to distribute in the near future but for now, you’ll have to get down there to try it for yourself. They have also incorporated their beers into an unusual list of “Brewtails,” which are cocktails with beer in them. Delicious!

Rosa’s is their authentic Portuguese kitchen, complete with two wood fire ovens for pizza, breads and roasting meats. Chef Rosa Dantas has our taste buds in delight with flaming chorizo, wood oven fired pizzas, cured meat and cheese platters and an interesting selection of chips. If you can’t decide what you want, they will even feed you with 4 and 6 dish deals starting at only $45.

The most exciting element is the perfectly polished tanks behind the large glass windows at the back of the room, showing you just how close the magic is happening. You can’t help but wonder at the cleanliness and it gives you confidence in knowing that a lot of care has gone into Lady Burra Brewhouse and their products.
