Fashionable Cocktails at The Collins Bar

This week, Hilton Adelaide’s The Collins Bar launched a most fashionable range of delicious cocktails, each inspired by a local designer involved in this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF).

The limited edition six-piece range includes cocktails inspired by the likes of C/MEO Collective, Keepsake, ACLER, So It Goes (SIG), Cinquante the Label and Paolo Sebastian.

Each designer was sent a questionnaire basically divulging an answer to: ‘If your label was a cocktail, what would it look/taste like’? From there, the cocktail artisans at The Collins Bar developed a most versatile and unique selection of drink-ables that each embodied the personality and design of their respective designer inspirations.

“The Fashion Collection is both masculine and feminine,” says The Collins Bar manager Ammon Rogers. “Some designers turned to strong, bold liquors or spirits and went heavy on spices and bitterness, while others went for more floral refreshing tastes.”

Our favourite drink of the night was the Paolo Sebastian cocktail, purely because we felt like sipping on something pretty, pink and sweet. The concoction of Cointreau, vodka, lemon juice, Aperol and lemon sorbet to top looked almost like a fluffy pink cloud, symbolically alluding to any number of designer Paul Vasileff‘s ever so heavenly designs.

SIG the Label’s cocktail was another stand out, but of a more masculine flavour profile, infusing Aperol, Red Vermouth and Sloe Berry Gin presented in the style of a Negroni. These characteristics likened to the somewhat masculine cuts of SIG designer Kate Anderson‘s collections, incorporating structured garments with a heavy focus on tailored pants and, namely, flares.

The range is available exclusively at The Collins Bar, 233 Victoria Square until Saturday 29th of October, 2016. To buy tickets to see these designers on the runway, check out the AFF program here.
