Our first UberEATS Insider’s Dinner at S2 on Flinders

On Wednesday we took to S2 on Flinders for our very first UberEats Insider’s Dinner in Adelaide, where we engaged in some fun activities and indulged in delicious Thai food. The event saw Adelaide bloggers, media and Instagrammers come together for a night of great food and great company. Being treated to champagne and nibbles on arrival, we knew we were in for a fabulous evening thanks to UberEats!

Our first activity for the night was a spring-roll-making class, being taught how to create our own spring rolls via a funny little home-made video. Adding a touch of personalisation, we used food colouring to paint our names onto our spring rolls before deep-frying them into delectably crispy goodness. The second activity was a blind-tasting, where guests were asked to put on a blind-fold and describe the flavours they were tasting, most of which yelled out, “Ummm, something deep-fried!?” Yep, excellent observation guys :’).

Next came mains, with the likes of the classic Pad Thai, fried rice, curries, fresh salads and fried squid filling up our table up to each end. One thing we love about Thai food, and S2’s Thai in particular, is the balance of fresh and light against heavy and filling. For example, the Pad Thai had a melt-in-your-mouth, buttery texture to the pasta, but the use of chilli, crunchy bean sprouts, fresh coriander and zesty lemon cut through that richness elegantly. The salad was also delightfully balanced, mixing greens, minced meat and fried squid into a plate of pure hunger satisfaction.

The night ended with friendly chatter among the table, bonding over dinner and wine from Mollydooker Wines. It was great to meet the rest of what is soon to be known as Adelaide’s UberEats family, catching up with stylish Insta-gal @daniadey, talented makeup artist @millieherd and so many more familiar faces; we couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration! We’ll be updating our Instagram and website with the latest UberEats meals and reviews, so be sure to keep an eye out.
