Five Shows We Can’t Wait To See At The Royal Croquet Club

Fresh from it’s first stint in Melbourne and Brisbane, the Royal Croquet Club is back in Adelaide running for another year with Fringe. We can’t wait for Victoria Square to be filled with twinkling lights, roaring music, delicious food, sparkling drinks and of course, free croquet. After perusing the Royal Croquet Club Guide a number of times, we’ve managed to narrow down a list of five shows we’re excited to see at the 2016 venue.

Barbu

barbu

Barbu has travelled all the way from Canada to widen your concept of abnormality and entertain you with brazen circus acts and a whole lot of eccentricity. Promising to be ‘the circus rave of the summer’, we’re looking forward to seeing what bearded men in briefs and flexible burlesque girls can conjure up onstage to the soundtrack of a live electro-trad band.

The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer

Seas have risen and humanity has been left to live out its existence on top of mountains and skyscrapers. Alvin Sputnik accepts a a dangerous mission to dive to the bottom of the ocean and find a new place for humanity to live. However, the real reason Alvin accepts this mission is to follow his wife’s soul to the underworld and be with her once more. A one man show that combines puppetry and technology, it has been compared to a theatrical Wall-E by the New York Times, meaning we’re probably going to shed a few happy tears through this one.
