We’re always on the hunt for a brand-spanking new concealer to hide our extreme lack of sleep and the constant bags under our eyes, so when we were invited to Elf Cosmetics’ launch of their new concealer we were keen to test it out.
We found the concealer to be buildable and high coverage, and a little goes a long way! It uses a ‘doe foot’ applicator that’s quite large and soft, and seems to hold product in the middle of the applicator to help apply it generously to your skin. We set it with a powder and didn’t find it to crack or sink into the lines around our eyes throughout the day.
In terms of the foundation, we found you might need to build it a bit to get a high level of coverage. One pump was enough to lightly cover our faces, but two helped it even out our skin tones and blemishes a little more. We applied it with a dense stippling brush over a freshly cleansed, moisturised and primed face and set it with powder after for a lovely matte finish.
When finding your perfect colour, we’ve got a couple of tips for you. The colour tends to come out a little different than it looks in the pretty frosted bottle, so when you pop it on your skin give it another couple of moments to oxidise as it will change colour.
Another Elf product we tested out that evening wasn’t a new one, but it’s one we’ve added to our daily makeup bags. The Monochromatic Multi Stick can be used on your eyes, lips and cheeks to give you a glowing complexion, and comes in a shimmering stick form that dries to a powdery finish. We love using ‘Luminous Berry’ dotted across our cheekbones and lightly blended with our fingers in our everyday makeup routine for a fresh and dewy look.
You can find Elf Cosmetics stocked at Superdrug around London, if you wanted to pop in and test any of the products out. With the foundation retailing for £7.50 and the concealer for £5.00, we think they’re an amazing price point and some handy products to top up your daywear makeup bag with.
