This Thursday night we were lucky enough to attend the official launch of contemporary French restaurant La Provence. French couple Tarik Marco and Sandrine Maltret, who have run the charming Le Mistral in Willunga since 2015, are proud to present their new restaurant. Situated on Pirie Street, this refined restaurant exudes French sophistication and charm.
We gorged on escargot (snails) with garlic butter and watercress, zesty oysters, a selection of oozy French cheeses with fresh bread, duck canapes and delicious pesto-topped mushrooms. The finishing touch was, of course, decadent chocolate truffles and light meringue tarts. Other menu highlights that we can’t wait to sink our teeth into include the raspberry soufflé with champagne ice cream and raspberry sauce, as well as the ricotta and parmesan gnocchi with caramelised pumpkin pearls.
The restaurant places a focus on local, seasonal produce, crafted with care in South Australia. The simple, elegant cuisine of the Provence region marries well with the fresh SA produce to create a vibrant and stylish menu. Like the food, the décor is crisp and contemporary, featuring character-filled pendant lights and a neat palette. The artwork depicts the rolling fields and bright colours that are characteristic of the Provence region in France, bringing just a sliver of rustic charm to the room.
Cosy, romantic, and atmospheric, La Provence is perfect for date night or catch-ups with your favourite people. This space is ideal for engaging and spending time together; make sure you set aside some time to pop in and try some quintessential French cuisine. The opening night showcased a welcoming, lively atmosphere and we can’t wait to head back soon for some passionfruit crème brulee, with a sugared puff pastry twist, strawberries, and lime. La Provence successfully brings the charming French countryside, and sumptuous French cuisine, to heart of Adelaide.
La Provence is open for lunch Monday-Friday 12pm-3pm, and dinner Monday-Saturday from 6pm til’ late. It is located on 125 Pirie Street, Adelaide.
