Hair, beauty and backstage madness at VAMFF

Last Saturday evening, Priceline took us on a little VIP tour of the backstage madness at Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF), giving us the chance to see all of the behind-the-scenes action before showtime.

As official Hair and Beauty Partner of the fashion festival, Priceline hosted a fabulous beauty station at the VAMFF plaza where guests could get free make-up touch-ups and hair-styling before their shows. False eyelashes, curls, straight-hair, lipstick, eye shadow touch ups… the beauty station essentially had everything! We did a lot of rushing about during VAMFF, so we heavily relied on Priceline to keep us fresh-faced and runway ready.

Priceline were also in charge of the model’s makeup and hairstyles for each show and selecting key trends for Autumn/Winter 2017. While backstage, we were introduced to the leading experts – Priceline’s Makeup Director Rae Morris and Hair Director Kenneth Stoddart – who gave us a little rundown of the looks we’d be seeing on the VAMFF runways.

Rae spoke of using earth tones for a rich Autumn look, applying rustic shades to the lips and caramel shades on the eyes for a fresh daytime face. This Autumn/Winter is all about the warm tones – we’re particularly loving the use of rogue red lips and burgundy eyes!

Kenneth discussed everything from the pushed back hair look (made famous by the likes of Kim K and GiGi) to textured tresses and braids. The wet-look trend is certainly a favourite of ours, pushing the hair back away from the face and drawing attention to your facial features will, in turn, result in a truly striking, confident look – a signature runway style. All the products you need to create this dramatic hairstyle can be found in Priceline: conditioning spray, a wide-tooth comb, styling gel, styling oil and hairspray!

As we mingled among the models, makeup artists and hair stylists backstage, we also picked up some insider tips and tricks from Grant Withnell about the top five hair products and Jazz about the top five beauty products to use this season:
