Hipsters unite for Vegan Festival 2016

Just because one is vegan doesn’t mean life is boring. While I’m not personally vegan, I have been a vegetarian for over ten years (and I was actually vegan for one of those). The vegan movement is all about living kindly and it is spreading quickly, especially in Australia with the wellness industry currently booming. It is pretty obvious more and more people have become more conscious of the effects their choices have on their wellbeing and on the earth.

Proudly supported by the Adelaide City Council, The 2016 Vegan Festival will run from Saturday 5th November (10am-8pm) – Sunday 6th November (10am-4pm) in Victoria Square.

The real MVP of the Vegan Festival is obviously the food with healthy, raw-some alternatives to all our favourite junk foods. Cakes, donuts, burgers, you name it they will have it. The Festival will also see cooking demonstrations, guest keynote speakers, live performances, over 75 food, merchandise and information stalls and exercise workshops. Did someone say yoga?

The outdoor event is fun for people of all ages and aims to educate people about the benefits of a healthy, cruelty-free lifestyle.

The Vegan Festival, which was first held in 2007, held an exclusive preview of the Festival on Thursday night at Victoria Square and Mischief Brew, Juice Quest, Francesco’s Cicchetti and Mai Kitchen were on hand to provide us with a selection of scrumptious vegan food and drinks.

Vegan Festival Adelaide gives you two days packed with live performances, guest keynote speakers, children entertainment, cooking demonstrations, workshops, Vegan Drag Queen DJ’s, and over 75 stalls with fabulous food, merchandise and information.

Special guests during the festival include David Quirk who will be the festival’s MC, Tyler Tolman, David Coles, Tegan Steele (Vegie Girl) and James Aspey. If you don’t speak vegan just know, these people are pretty cool and they know their stuff.

For all those single ladies and lads out there, the Vegan Festival is also hosting a Single Mingle all throughout the weekend. I’ll probably be there to be honest so if you see someone walking around with a coloured wristband go up, introduce yourself and bond over raw desserts, cold press juices and vinyasa flows.

The Vegan Festival is expecting a crowd of over 10, 000 people this year over the two day program. Entry is $5 with junior vegan groupies under 12 receiving free admission. For more information visit the website here.
