Paul Costelloe AW19 Runway at LFW

A simply stunning showcase of fitted structure and feminine silhouette, the Paul Costelloe AW19 collection left us in total awe this season of London Fashion Week.

Held at Simpson’s in the Strand, Paul Costelloe’s runway was an intimate setup located right in the midst of Fashion Week’s hub. With two shows back-to-back, the collection was showcased to an audience of anticipating media, influencers and, you know, just the usual London fashion folk. It was a rather early show on a crisp Monday morning, so we fuelled our bodies with caffeine in order to give the collection the attention it fully deserved. We were hopeful the beautiful designs on show could motivate us through the rest of the working day; it had been quite a chaotic few days prior.

And motivate us is exactly what it did, as models came strutting out powerfully in designs made of a luxurious, striking black leather. Exuding a kind of rock-chic, boss lady vibe, the opening three designs had our hearts already. The first, a belted leather blazer over tight-fitted leather leggings, was followed by another tailored jacket design with minimalist gold detailing on the pockets, collar and cuffs, seductively styled over mini shorts and sheer tights. The third was a fitted leather midi dress complete with a belted waist, high neck and sleeveless cut. Can we have x1 of each, please?

The power vibe remained strong throughout, with many of the designs adopting a cinched-in waist design and structured shoulder padding to create that flattering hourglass effect. Bold jackets and jacket dresses were the stand out pieces in our eyes; we couldn’t get enough of the statement collars and expertly tailored silhouettes. Closing with dresses made of textured materials and stunning patterns of a metallic sheen, there was not really a moment where we weren’t totally captivated by the clothing in front of us.
