Runway // Best Day Ever Wedding Festival

The Adelaidian was lucky enough to be a guest at Best Day Ever Wedding Festival, an event bringing together all things good and bridal under one roof. If there was ever something you needed at a wedding, these guys had it, and more. One of the highlights of Best Day Ever was a fashion show, featuring bridal wear from Jenny & Gerry’s BridalBridal on PulteneyCinderella Bridal & EveningElegant Alternatives Bridal, Malachi EmpireRapsimoBetrothedThe Ultimate BrideRed Pearl CoutureAdelaide Brides & BloomPrincess CollectionGretaKate and Liza Emanuele, and grooms wear from Peter Shearer and Joseph Uzumou.

While a well-fitting, quality suit will steal a woman’s heart any day, nothing will top the shortness of breath many feel when they see amazing gowns. Be they white, black, or every colour in between, not many can say they don’t feel a slight sense of euphoria when seeing the dress of their dreams. Or ten. While this show focused mostly on the traditional shades of white, ivory and champagne, there were many different styles to suit a variety of girl’s tastes and sizes.

Silhouettes ranged from traditional sweetheart bodices and full skirts to the more modern, slinky mermaid style. There were still a few references to the Great Gastby phenomenon that temporarily took over the evening-wear world, with high necks and intricate beading over sheer material still lingering around. A new style entering the bridal world to take note of is the two-piece bridal gown, featuring a crop top and dramatic skirt. Shying away from the traditional full gown, this style is for the modern girl who wants to make a statement, rather than wear the usual dress.

One of the more practical trends circulating is the detachable train. Many dresses now feature a train which is easily removed by untying a bow or detaching a clip, as demonstrated by the models on the runway who removed their trains while walking and carried them the rest of the way. Gone are the days of changing dresses before the reception or small children stepping on your train, simply remove and enjoy the rest of your special day.
