South Australia has become a hotbed for creative talent, thriving off of the niche market culture that sweeps the city from the hills to the beach. One of these many emerging scenes is fashion design, with local designers finally having a growing outlet to share their work. Anasthasia Kodhyat from Tasya Collective is one of these creatives who decided to make her passion into an growing business.

Specialising in bohemian necklaces, pillows and clutches, the label embodies a free-spirited girl who appreciates her surroundings and doesn’t sweat the little things.

Enthusiasts of the label have certainly shown their approval, with a fellow festival-goer at Laneway asking Anathasia to purchase the necklace she was wearing right off her neck.

We recently caught up with Anasthasia to find out what makes Tasya Collective so unique.

Hey Anasthasia! Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m currently studying a three-year Bachelor of Architecture course at the University of South Australia- creative, of course! I’m an outdoors type, I love the salty air of the beach and the freshness of bushland. Music and art keeps my creativity flowing. Some groovy beat is always on the background when I’m making my products, and if I’m not working on my collection there’s always a little art project on the side. I enjoy summer nights and long walks on the beach.  Don’t write that last bit [laughs].

What does Tasya mean? Is it symbolic?

My family is Indonesian, so my Indonesian nickname was Tasya. It’s really just a different way of spelling/pronouncing the second half of my name Anas(thasia).

So where did the label come from?

I started this business post year 12 because I found myself having a lot of free time and I thought what better way to kill it by being creative. Thus, Tasya Collective was born.

Gold or Crimson?

Gold or Garnet?

Would you look at expanding your label?

For sure. I’m hoping to make a wider range of clutches of different sizes. I also want to branch out to macramè plant/succulent holders and who knows, maybe even some clothing items.

Describe Tasya Collective in 3 words.

Elysian. Bohemian. Colourful.

Where can we find you?

Currently I take orders through my Instagram account @tasyacollective. I also have some upcoming stalls lined up for Adelaide based markets (save the date: 21st May!) and possibly more to come. I’m hoping to open up an online store by the end of the year so keep your eyes peeled!
