The Story of Haigh’s Chocolates

What started off as the daring dreams of a young teenage boy in the 1890’s, ended up a 100 year legacy to be ‘enjoyed for generations’ continuing to this day…

Today, Haigh’s Chocolates is a reigning South Australian icon and national delight, providing Australians with a luxurious and quality confectionery range. Now in their centenary year of production, Haigh’s have joined with Wakefield Press publishers to release ‘Enjoyed for Generations’: a book covering the history and story of their beloved brand.

To celebrate this incredible milestone and the release of ‘Enjoyed for Generations’, Haigh’s held a grand launch in the Mortlock Wing of South Australia’s State Library. With a prestigious venue so suited to the event, the evening consisted of plenty of delicious antipasto nibbles (including a taste of Haigh’s for dessert, of course) and some inspirational recollections from Haigh’s co-Managing Director Alister Haigh and others alike.

Enjoyed for Generations

The 250 page book, written by international culinary historian and author Barbara Santich, covers every tale from founder Claude Haigh’s initial steps into the business, current Chairman John Haigh’s adventures into Switzerland’s chocolate-making industry and the fourth generation’s contemporary contribution to the success of their family firm.

The book also contains hundreds of historic photographs over a spread of glossy pages, taken from Haigh family private collections and business archives and bringing the stories to life.

‘Enjoyed for Generations’ is $69.00 and available from a selection of 14 stores located across Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as online here.
