Tran-seasonal Trends That Belong in Your Wardrobe

Investing in fashion can be tough, especially with the continuous ‘trend-mill’ that sees far too many outfits gathering dust in the closet after only one night in action. However, timeless trends do exist… and we’ve happened to notice a few ensembles jump from runway to runway as the seasons transcend. The underlying similarity between each of the pieces we mention is their versatility, and there’s nothing we love more than a solid staple piece that makes styling easy. On that note, here are some top picks to help you through all your worst “I have nothing to wear!” moments (we’ve all been there).

1. The point-toe boot:

The classic point toe boot adds a sense of sophistication that tricks everyone around you into thinking you’ve got everything under control. Over the years we’ve seen plenty of celebs with diverse taste strutting around in a pair of points. Feel like a bad ass today? Chuck them on with a roughed- up pair of boyfriend jeans. Feeling a little inspired by Lauren Conrad’s feminine style? Get the frills happening and pair them with a florally Keepsake dress. There’s no rights or wrongs in fashion… but if there were, the point-toe boot would be right.

2. Culottes:

This ones on Coco Chanel, and we thank her for it. Unfortunately comfort and fashion don’t always go hand in hand. But when you meet that perfect combo, magic happens. That’s exactly the case when you slide into a pair of culottes, a slightly more casual and edgy alternative to a maxi-skirt but with all the same benefits. The flattering subtle-flare effect emphasises the waistline without restricting any space around the stomach, which means going all out at dinner. Having made quite an appearance on the David Jones Autumn/Winter 2018 runway, these are easy to rock with sneakers, sandals, heels, and of course: a pair of point-toes boots. Tip: grab yourself a cropped pair for the illusion of longer legs.

3. Oversized graphic tee:

They’re cute, timeless, comfy, and have that effortless ‘I just chucked this on’ appeal to them that ups your casual style game. The options are limitless when it comes to a basic tee, so it’s important to find one that you love the cut/fit of. This is also an opportunity to rep your favourite brand, quote, graphic print or logo, which ultimately says a lot about your personality. You’d be surprised by how much they add to an outfit! And the best part? You have a PJ top and alternative night-out get up all in one.

4. Statement belt:

We saw how quickly the classic G-buckle Gucci belt broke the internet. Whilst that particular one isn’t within everyone’s budget, there are some amazing statement belts out there that will perfectly complete any look. A little hint of silver or gold to contrast with the fabrics of your outfit can really bring it to life! A belt is an especially good alternative if you’re not one for bulky accessories, and there’s no doubt that it will last you a life-time. Tip: Silk-tie neck scarves also make great belts if you love a multi-purpose ensemble; a quirky but cute alternative.

5. A faux leather jacket:

Did anyone else cringe when their mum would call “don’t forget a jacket!” as you sneak out the door in a snazzy outfit? Well, the leather jacket is your saviour. They’re basic, stylish, and compliment any outfit nicely. There’s a good reason these bad-boys have been reappearing on the fashion scene since the 1940’s. This one would definitely take the title of the ultimate staple.
