Photo Diary: Vogue Festival #outfitinspo with The Adelaidian

A couple weeks ago, we gave you a comprehensive run down of what you need to know about Adelaide’s up and coming (and seriously anticipated) Vogue Festival. Now, with just over a week to go, we decided to put together a little lookbook of Rundle Mall retailers, styling trendy looks using pieces from BNKR StoreSportsgirlReviewTed BakerNine West, and Bardot.

Each of these retailers will be involved in Vogue Festival, which is happening next weekend (the 13th and 14th of October) in Rundle Mall and Rundle Street with plenty of special offers, activations and competitions for festival-goers to explore! The launch is set to take place on the 13th from 12PM under the Gawler Place canopy with Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia, Edwina McCann, and Australian fashion icon Jennifer Hawkins.

If you’re stuck for outfits to wear to the launch and are looking for some #outfitinspo, look no further than our Rundle Mall retailer photo diary snapped by talent local photographer Wade Whitington below!

Review

Flirty, feminine and fabulous are just few of the words we’d use to describe beloved Australian label Review. We’ve worked with Review before and loved it, so naturally we were excited to head into Review to pick out our garments for the photoshoot. Florals, warm tones of pink and red, dainty bows and ruffles all yelled out at us from the new arrivals section. Getting caught up in the unmistakably loud romance of Review’s clothing, we knew we’d have little trouble finding a favourite piece.

Everyone knows this is the season for spring romance, and everyone in the fashion industry knows that the new romantics trend is at the top of its game right now. This is a trend that Review does best and, in knowing this, we put together two romantic looks of our own. Utilising florals, Kristen picked out a turqoise-green, knee-length jumpsuit and Mel picked out a black, full-length jumpsuit, both of which showcased ruffles in a flattering way. These jumpsuits are also a great way of getting into the new romantics trend if you’re; a) not a fan of big, bodacious a-line skirts or dresses, and; b) actively seek to avoid red and pink tones.

Ted Baker

Iconic London label Ted Baker simply oozes a sense of class and sophistication. Located in Adelaide’s newest glossy shopping precinct Rundle Place, Ted Baker is a favourite when it comes to finding quality pieces with a versatility deemed fit for work or play.

Kristen put together a rather corporate-chic look, combining soft baby pink pants with a black top and accessories. Mel picked out a super swishy skirt from Ted Baker which she paired with pieces from other retailers, creating a fun evening look with a distinct feminine silhouette. The burgundy trench was the perfect throwover coat to complete the look.

Bardot

Bardot is a retailer known for being hot on the trends and we can’t help but notice they always seem to present the best mannequin displays. The moment we stepped into Bardot to pick out our outfits, we were overwhelmed by choice as we admired all the different kinds of party dresses, bodysuits, denim pieces and accessories on offer.

After much debate, we finally found our pieces of choice: a white blazer and mini dress, and a lace bodysuit-and-pant combo with a classic leather jacket. Kristen opted for an evening look perfectly suited to a party or night out in town. While the white blazer might not be the perfect attire to party in (red wine stains, no thanks), it looked too good paired with the burgundy dress to leave behind. Mel’s look was also party-friendly, throwing together a seductive lace bodysuit with corset-laced, wide-leg pants in nude and a black leather jacket.  The lace, leather and corset-tied trends are undoubtedly huge in fashion right now, as are neutral and muted tones. Insta-babe vibes, much?

Sportsgirl

Sportsgirl is definitely a personal favourite of ours; there’s just so much you can find in that colourful little store! Our contrasting looks below simply prove that there is something for everyone at Sportsgirl, whether you’re going for bohemian, hipster, festival, or simply a basic tee-and-jeans, everyday-wear combo.

Mel’s undeniably hipster-esque get-up rocks the double denim, styled alongside a vintage-look, slogan-printed bodysuit and baker boy hat. This is one look we can definitely see getting thrashed about at a music festival (Falls and Beyond The Valley are coming up, guys!). We’ve also previously expressed our love for Sportsgirl sunnies a multitude of times, but we will say it again: their selection of $40 sunnies are serious bargains because, not only are they statement and look good on almost every face shape, they last for ages! We pretty much leave a different pair in each of our many bags at all times.

Kristen’s look is far more feminine with a touch of bohemian, layering an embroided, flare-sleeved top with a simple black slip. She had her eye on the slip from the get-go as it is a wardrobe staple and layering must-have, being trans-seasonal through the cold weather to the warm. The look was styled with straw-woven accessories – including the cutest embroided beach bag ever – which made it totally effortless and summery.

BNKR Store

We’ve got an ongoing relationship with BNKR Store/Australian Fashion Labels and have worn their labels C/MEO CollectiveFinders KeepersKeepsake the LabelThe Fifth Label and Jaggar for a very long time now. Let’s face it, we will forever be the loyal customers lining up for hours to be first in at their crazy sample sales, or bulk-buying at fshnbnkr.com when we see some serious sales go live. We just love everything about this local brand and it’s fashion-forward designs.

For the shoot, Kristen played with layering again and picked up a sheer top with ridiculously cool ruffled sleeves to wear under a plain black, wide-leg jumpsuit. Mel chose a plain black slogan tee which could go with just about any bottoms in the store, so she laid her eyes upon a flowy pair of salmon-pink, front-split pants.

Nine West

Okay… so we all know that Nine West do some of the best, most comfiest shoes ever, but did you know that they also do some really cool bags and clutches, too? We picked out a few of their clutches to style in our shoot and – needless to say – they looked great with just about every outfit. Nude, black, rose gold, metallic silver and even a stunning patent grey (which we had our eyes on but they couldn’t lend out because there was only one left in store 🙁 ) are among the tones offered in Nine West’s collection of clutches. Many of the bags are made to the exact match of their shoes, too, which means you’d be able to get the ultimate matching accessories in one place! Handy!
