Adelaide based interior designer Claire Kneebone and Evelyne Abrahams of PLOT Works launched their new studio space, CK + PLOT Works, in Peel Street on Thursday in collaboration with Renew Adelaide. Stepping into the warm and inviting space, a natural and neutral decor enriched with exotic plants, fresh lilies, potted succulents and deliciously scented candles enhanced the earthy feel that is undoubtedly a major aspect of both Claire and Evelyne’s work.
Claire is a renowned and sought after South Australian designer with projects including 2KW, Maybe Mae, Udaberri and Bread and Bone Wood Grill. Claire’s latest design ventures stand out among Adelaide’s bustling food scene, as she combines rich yet natural elements that boast character and ooze ambiance – something that felt nonexistent in eateries around SA a few years ago. Think custom timber elements, warm lighting to set the mood, contemporary furnishings as well as vintage and glamorous touches. Maybe Mae is a prime example, with their plush chesterfield couches and striking art deco mirrors taking you back to the era of prohibition. When looking at Claire’s work, there is an undeniable relationship between each place and the materials implemented, adding individual charm to every space whilst establishing an identifiable style that is prevalent throughout. Her new studio is decked with a hearty and conceptual timber wall, that maintains an overall warm and slick aesthetic. Standing lamps overshadow contemporary yet retro inspired chairs of monochromatic and minimal hues, giving visitors a snippet of Claire’s extensive design background and flair.
PLOT Works is a multidisciplinary practice structured around landscape, construction and design, with a focus on environment and sustainability. We were given a snippet into Evelyne’s world, with sanctuaries of plants setting off the earthy vibe that is a primary aspect of landscape design. PLOT Works offers residential, commercial and civil services, with some current and latest projects being the Greiner Child Care Centre, St Andrews School Walkerville, AWL Wingfield Cattery and Spotlight among many others.
CK + PLOT Works is an example of Adelaide’s collaborative and thriving design scene, focusing on fresh and conceptual designs that are rapidly enlivening the state in a stimulating and exciting way than ever before.
You can find CK + PLOT Works at 22-26 Peel Street, Adelaide.
