Crawling for a Cause

If there’s one thing we Adelaidians love, it’s a good ol’ fashioned pub crawl, and what better way to raise much-needed money for a worthy cause than hopping your way through our thriving CBD on a Saturday night?

The Pub Crawl for Prostate Cancer is the latest project taken on by local aspiring entrepreneur Michael Phillips.

“I’m stoked to be organising this event because it’s personal to me and my family… 100% of the profits from the wristbands we sell will go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia,” Michael says.

In 1995, before Michael was born, his grandfather was diagnosed with severe prostate cancer and given just two years to live.

Remarkably, more than 21 years later, with a grandson named after him, Michael Phillips Snr is alive and well having beaten all the odds in his battle with the disease.

The pub crawl, which will run from 6pm on Saturday 4th June, has already gained a great deal of momentum with support from 10 of Adelaide’s premier nightlife venues.

This will be the second crawl Michael has organised; his Get Blind for Eyesight Pub Crawl in 2015 was hugely successful with all profits from the 350 participants going to the Fred Hollows Foundation.

This year, Michael is looking to go even bigger, with limited wristbands left two weeks out from the event.

The event’s benefactors, including SKYCITY Adelaide Casino, Strathmore Hotel and brand new nightclub Kokomo are all offering subsidies, vouchers or free entry to punters sporting the official

Also on board with the cause is newly founded social nightlife start-up Tipsy Koala, who are offering a discount on wristbands for those who download their app.

Otherwise, wristbands are available below for $15; each wristband comes with a complimentary $10 bet from the Adelaide Casino… who knows, you might be able to pay for your night!
