Meraki Festival brings Fashionable Fitness to Unley

We all know fit is the new black right? If you don’t, newsflash, it’s 2017 and helping people to lead a healthy lifestyle has seen the wellness industry achieve substantial growth. From more and more people jumping onto the wellness wagon, cult fitness groups such as CrossFit, F45, barre and even yoga have helped working out to become a fun and engaging team bonding activity.

The inaugural Meraki Festival will see Unley’s Soldiers Memorial Gardens swarming with activewear clad fitness freaks come Sunday 26 February.

As the major Adelaide Fringe event for Unley, a health and fitness business hub, the Meraki Festival offers a day of activities and wellness workshops. Choose between yoga, barre, Studio 360 Cycle and F45 Unley classes or stay for the day and try them all.

To stay hydrated and fuelled, an essential component of wellness, festival goers can devour tasty treats from Unley’s healthy hotspots Nutrition Republic and Goodpress Juices.

You can also expect to hear from some of Adelaide’s top health and fitness gurus along with live music during the afternoon.

Kasey Willson, one of our favourite local authors and naturopaths who gave us ‘Balanced, The Natural Way to Healthy Hormones’ will also be around to give wellness talks.

Toop & Toop will also host a soothing and relaxing Garden Space with massages, skin refreshers and silent mediation on offer for those who want to take some time out.

Starting at 8am with a Barre class from Xtend Barre in the Lululemon ‘Show Me’ space, the day will run until 4pm and will also feature an F45 Unley class at 12pm, followed by the insanely popular High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class at 1:00pm. To see the full ‘Show Me’ program, check out the Meraki Festival Facebook page.

Children can enjoy a Kids Yoga class and various craft activities making it the ultimate day out, no matter your age.

The best thing about the day? It is completely free to attend. Bring your girl squad, the bros, the kids, your significant other or rock up solo. I’m ready if you are.

The Meraki Festival will be held from 8am-4pm on Sunday 26 February at the Unley Soldiers Memorial Garden. Visit unley.sa.gov.au or facebook.com/cityofunleyevents for all the details.
