Next in our tour of all the amazing things you can do on rooftops in London is Rooftop Film Club, located on the iconic Bussey Rooftop Bar in Peckham. Heading into South London, the location is a little off the beaten track, but when you walk through a small passageway off the main street and into the quaint courtyard that houses the Bussey Building, you’ll really feel like you’ve found a hidden gem.
We were lucky enough to check out this rooftop bar last summer as well, however this time we were all booked in for an amazing movie night overlooking the beautiful London skyline. We were probably the last two people in the UK who hadn’t seen A Star Is Born, and since we’d heard such good things, we were incredibly excited to see it that night.
We made sure to get there a couple of hours before the movie was scheduled to start so we could have a couple of drinks and try some of the food available. The new setup for summer is worthy of any Insta-feed also, so make sure you leave plenty of time to get a snap with the wicker chairs, winding floral displays and bright rugs.
For dinner we both went for the steak, cooked medium rare, sliced and served on a bed of chips. The steak comes topped with chimichurri sauce, however there are also loads of other condiments also available like ketchup, vinegar and mustard for you to mix and match with. At the bar there is a range of summery cocktails, as well as beers, ciders and wine.
The rooftop cinema is in another part of the venue which opens around 8:30pm for you to wander in and get comfy. Blankets are provided to everyone as it can get a little chilly on the roof, and you also get a set of headphones, so you can always hear the movie perfectly. There’s a snack counter where you can get treats like popcorn and Candy Kittens, or you can buy a bottomless popcorn and keep going back for as many refills as you want throughout the film.
Cosying up in the deck chairs and watching the sunset over the skyline is a pretty fantastic way to settle in for the movie. Once the sky is dark (at around 9pm), the movie will start. If we have one piece of advice for you it would be to rug up, as towards to end of the movie we were getting pretty chilly in our summery clothes!
