Try Japanese Soufflé Pancakes at Gram Cafe

Gram Cafe and Pancakes is a taste of Osaka, Japan, right here in Sydney. And yes, this wonderfully aesthetic cafe is quite literally made for the ‘gram.

Having opened in Osaka in 2014, pancake chain Gram Cafe became a cult hit in no time. Their signature dish – the Premium Pancakes – honed quite the fan base, and it’s not hard to see why.

Premium pancakes with a cult-following

Light and fluffy, perfectly round, stacked in a neat little pile… these pancakes simply scream Instaworthy. Not only do they photograph excellently, they also taste like a dream. The wobbly three-stack meets a melt-in-your-mouth texture and leaves you pining after that next bite each time.

Best of all, the pancakes themselves aren’t overbearingly sweet and can be customised to your personal taste. The standard toppings include butter and maple syrup, which infuses a little more richness to the dish. However, you are also granted a choice of sides. Choose between a number of different ice-cream flavours such as sesame or matcha green tea, and add some fruity goodness such as sliced banana or strawberry. Who doesn’t love a customisable touch?

The cafe fit-out is just as grand as its menu, paying homage to the signature dish in a number of funky ways. Your table might be complemented with a cute toy replica of the pancakes. Perhaps upon entry, you’ll snap a photo with the gigantic human-sized version. In every corner there’s also gorgeous greenery to enhance the mood. It’s a lovely little foodie escape.
