UBET Adelaide Cup Day 2017

UBET Adelaide Cup Day 2017 at Morphettville Racecourse was a playground for Adelaide fashionistas, with much importance placed in the lead up on finding the perfect outfit that followed the traditional rules of race wear but also incorporated current trends.

SA’s Myer Fashions on the Field State Final drew in an impressive crowd of fashionistas vying for the top prize which included a fast track to the Grand Final at this year’s Melbourne Cup.

Hosted by stylist and Adelaide fashion personality Cimon Vozzo, the judging panel consisted of fabulous fashion experts such as The Advertiser’s Fashion Editor Anna Vlach, Sunday Mail Fashion Editor Mirella Romano and Adelaide Cup Ambassador Ellie Brown.

Feminine pastels such as blues, pinks and even splashes of sunburnt orange dominated the looks flaunted by this year’s finalists with pleats also featuring heavily. From ladylike dresses to trouser and top combo’s each finalist had their moment to shine on stage before the winner was crowned.

Well-known local milliner Melissa Barnes took out the top prize wearing a blue top by Adelaide label Couture+Love+Madness, a headpiece from her own label and an eye-catching layered skirt by Roksanda.

Second place went to Bec Butcher, also in Couture+Love+Madness which was customised with 3D hot pink handmade flowers which stood out against her pale pink frock.

The Starting Gate was buzzing from start to finish with racegoers taking full advantage of the Clip Joint and Media Make Up team who were on hand for touch ups in the Clique Beauty Bar.

The YellowGlen Terrace also offered attendees the chance to #LiveThisMoment in their free Photo Booth hub which gave participants short but cute clips to share on Facebook and Instagram. Much golden confetti throwing and candid laughing shots were involved.
