An abundance of freshness at Paradise Hotel’s Eat & Tweet

Just over a month ago, we attended the VIP relaunch of the newly renovated Paradise Hotel on Lower North East Road. This week, we returned to try everything the new look hotel has to offer with their ‘Eat & Tweet’ media event.

With a focus on local, fresh ingredients, new head chef, Matthew de Cean and Executive GM Hotel Chef, Chris Wotton, took us through their revamped menu.

“Basically our goal here is to provide good food with fresh, local ingredients. We’re trying to make this not too formal, not too fancy but what we want to do is not compromise either,” Chef Matthew told the crowd.

“That was our philosophy from the start – good suburban hotel pub food,” Chef Chris agreed.

This certainly got us excited to see exactly what Paradise Hotel had to offer!

Cured Meat Platter

Sat in the new beer garden area, with the large windows wide open, and the evening breeze gently flowing through the room, we sat down and dined while admiring the orange sunset.

We were lucky enough to sample ten delicious new dishes including their Cured Meat Platter, Shaved Porchetta Plate, Vegetarian Caesar Salad, Coconut Prawn Cutlets, Greek Lamb Salad, Haloumi Fries, Vegetable Parmigiana, Potato Gnocchi, Seafood Platter, and Panacotta.

The Seafood Platter (for two), consisting of blue swimmer crab, king prawns, smoked salmon, natural oysters, grilled half shelled scallops, crispy fried squid, ale battered flat head, served with chips, lemon, tartare and seafood sauces, is Paradise Hotel’s signature dish, for good reason too! It came out on huge plates cradled in a two-tier tower, giving it even more grandeur. Though the menu says ‘for two’, this dish can easily be shared amongst a hungry family of four!

“Our vision was to create an irresistible variety of mouth-watering dishes utilising the best local produce. We’re confident there’s a dish to please every member of the family,” Chef Matthew says.

We definitely agree that the new menu goes hand-in-hand with Paradise Hotel’s new look, altogether giving off a completely refreshed vibe to the dining experience.

Paradise Hotel is located at 700 Lower North East Road and is open from 8:30am til late daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just drinks with a couple of friends.
