Variety on King William (VKW) returned to Adelaide Fashion Festival again for its fifth year running, showcasing fine dining and fine fashion in support of Variety SA: The Children’s Charity on King William Road.
Boasting South Australia’s longest runway, VKW showcased an array of stunning designs from boutiques located on King William Road, including Denim & Cloth, The Ark Clothing Co, ECO D, CABLE Melbourne, Coltish, Move Over Menswear, Elizabeth V, Designer Exchange, Denim Iniquity, Wild Child, Muse Boutique and Liza Emanuele.
The day was curated to an Asian theme, complete with an entertaining Chinese dragon performance, a four course Asian-inspired long lunch and the ‘China Girl’ opening parade.
The Adelaidian were afforded the chance to get in and amongst the hustle and bustle of the VKW backstage room, where models, make-up artists, stylists and designers alike were feverishly pampering in preparation for the parade.
Opening the show, models stormed down the catwalk in armies, creating aesthetic formations and a powerful end pose, all while guests tucked into their haloumi and chicken salads by Light Bulb Cafe and indulged in a glass of chilled Wicks Estate Sparkling.
We admired silky sleek sleepwear by Elizabeth V and fawned over dapper summer menswear style from Denim & Cloth and Move Over Menswear.
Wild Child had us in dreamland parading feminine pastels and flowing hemlines, while The Ark Clothing Co. had us feeling tropical with funky patterns and bright, eye-catching orange tones and whites.
Liza Emanuele’s timeless, sophisticated pieces from her new collection were simply divine, as were the uniquely patterned cocktail dresses from Muse Boutique.
VKW is always full of fabulous fashion, the best food and an infectious vibrancy that you are unlikely to find elsewhere. Although it’s only just been and gone, we cannot wait for what next year’s VKW has in store.
