Food and culture festival Asiafest returns again this October with something a little different to last year. That’s right, the festival is bigger and better than ever with the introduction of the Full Moon Party Music Festival.
Sound familiar? That’s because Asiafest is transforming Rymill Park into Thailand’s infamous celebration, with Adelaide’s own twist of course.
The party will replicate the cultural elements that surround the traditional Koh Phangan Full Moon Party but with added safety and security from our South Australian laws.
But that doesn’t mean us Adelaidians can’t have as much fun as the real deal. Festival Director Greg Evangelou, who was already overwhelmed by last year’s Asiafest which sparked his imagination to expand the festival, assures us the event will be packed full of exciting activities.
“Plenty of effort has gone in to making this night possible, and we are so excited that it will soon be a reality and a first for Adelaide,” says Mr. Evangelou.
The festival will offer to us an impressive line up of DJs (stay tuned to hear the release of the headline act), glow sticks and fluorescent body paint of course as the obligatory drinking buckets.
“Patrons should prepare to be blown away and get ready for a night of dancing, colour and fun,” says Mr. Evangelou.
With the excitement of South Australians to have the opportunity to experience the party atmosphere in their own backyard, safety and control are a number one priority for the event.
“With the help from SAPOL, Liquor Licensing, the Adelaide City Council and our security team, we can ensure all security measures will be taken to allow this event to be safe and fun for everyone involved,” says Mr. Evangelou.
With an astonishing 20 000 people entering the gates last year, an expected 50 000 are expected to visit this October – we can’t even imagine how this year will result with the added value of the Full Moon Party.
China, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and Japan are the official countries visitors will expect to experience in this year’s festival.
Over 20 local restaurateurs including Ginza Miyako, Sumurai Teppanyaki and Vietnam Restaurant will provide culinary dishes through pop-up stalls.
