Delicious Scones and Dainty Macarons

The Adelaidian took a day off and spent it with our mums at the High Tea Party at the Hilton last Saturday.

Amongst the divine petit fours and zesty lemon tarts there were quaint stalls and goodies aplenty. Before sitting down to our 4:30 tea session, we made sure to arrive early so we could peruse the stalls and pamper ourselves with manicures and massages.

Nana May’s Magic Hands was an essential stop for all High Tea patrons, where guests were treated to a hand scrub that left our hands feeling oh-so-soft and fresh. The all-natural product contains seven essential oils, two salts and five carrier oils that completely remove all dead skin and leave your skin moisturised and tingly.

Manicures were provided by household favourite Nutrimetics and new-comer to the market Jamberry. Jamberry create printed nail wraps that you simply heat and apply to the nail, making it easy for you to achieve a perfect at-home manicure.

Refreshingly cold cocktails made from cranberry, guava and vodka were served by Ocean Spray, the perfect drink to sip on while perusing the many jewellery and accessory stalls dotted around.

When we finally took a break from shopping and sat down for our high tea session, we dined on a variety of savoury and sweet delights on beautiful Royal Albert tea-ware. To begin, little sandwiches of tarragon chicken and smoked salmon with lemon dill creme fraiche were served, as well as panko crumbed prawn wraps and roasted pumpkin quiches. As we made our way through the sweeter dishes, our taste buds were taken through traditional high tea delights like scones and macarons, as well as newer additions like chocolate slice and lemon meringue tartlets.

During the high tea we were serenaded by the vocals of Emma Pask and treated to a fashion show from new Adelaide label W2-iw. The day finished with an exciting raffle, where some lucky guests walked away with prizes like Royal Albert Tea sets and clothing vouchers.

The High Tea Party will be travelling around Australia and New Zealand for the rest of 2016, so be sure to snap up a ticket quickly and spend a day with your closest friends and loved ones!
