MVR creates cute, vegetable leather bags

Stylish little bags with loads of personality is what Martine Van Reesema (MVR) prides herself on creating. From mini bucket-bags with leather stars sewn on, to sleek prism clutches, each MVR bag is as unique as it is bespoke.

Using vegetable tanned leather, the bags are designed to age gracefully (much like us humans) and gain character over years. Though the leather is quite light in colour when first purchased, it will deepen over time in a way that will remain unique to the bag.

MVR and D Posadowski, a fellow graduate from the Whitehouse Institute of Design and a metalworker, have collaborated on a pre-fall 17 collection, available for order now.

The pieces from this limited-edition run include ten bags and accessories, combining leather and chain maille techniques. The result is futuristic-looking satchels and buckets in silver and black.

We wore two of the MVR x D Posadowski and one of MVR’s original leather bags to VAMFF, and took some photos of how we styled them on the day.
