Hysterically funny and thought-provoking, Red Bastard and his energetic cynicism could almost be described as a lovechild of Cupid and the Grinch.
This brilliant one-man show delves into the lies we tell one another through our amorous intentions, whether they are hedonistic or romantic.
It matters little if they are white lies or something more sinister, Red Bastard will have you reflecting on all the bulls**t we spin to meet the ‘cultural laws of love’.
LIES, SO MANY LIES.
Our superb host is hungry to eat them all up; that much is made obvious by his red, bulging body caused by a gluttonous diet of our own dishonesty.
This show is like therapy in a theatre, except he does all the talking. Unless of course, you choose to share your experiences! Red Bastard moves with vigour across the stage and into the audience, excited to uncover our tales of deceit.
Red Bastard’s unforgettable performance will have you immersed—forcing you to take part through your thoughts alone as you reflect on your past or current romances. Regardless of whether you are a ‘swan’, a ‘pervert’ or a ‘dirty pony’, we are all complicit.
Throughout the seventy-minutes, we uncover the social norms of dating, sex, and relationships, as Red Bastard cleverly deconstructs the rules that we live by and asks the question: just who was it that made these predominant rules of love? And are we making the right choice by following them?
This show is a reflective masterpiece that will stay with you for days.
While it may not push you to the heights of polyamory—although you’ll feel vindicated if you are—it will certainly highlight the hypocrisy when we choose to roll the dice at the table of love. Who knew that could be so hilarious?
An Adelaide Fringe highlight and an unquestionable must see.
