AFF 2017 Lookbook

Wondering what The Adelaidian wore to Adelaide Fashion Festival this year? Below, we’ve compiled a list of the local and national designers/boutiques we rocked at the festival, with an accompanying lookbook to showcase how we styled the pieces.

Autark: Mel wore the luscious khaki silk shirt from Autark, which had a feel of pure luxury. The material it is made out of is unapologetically luxe, turning heads in an instant as it shines beautifully under the light.

Australian Fashion Labels: We picked out a few favourite pieces from Aus Fashion Labels’ October collection, choosing a funky black Finders Keepers skirt that was super versatile from day to night, and a playful, summery print dress. The dress made Kristen feel like an ice-skating princess, featuring a flowy a-line skirt and lace detailing down the neckline and arms.

Something Borrowed: Mel had been eyeing off a particularly dramatic Elle Zeitoune dress at Something Borrowed for a while now, complete with a trailing train and sexy thigh split. Pairing it with a sleek jacket from Cue, she rocked a dark and mysterious look with a hint of seduction. Kristen dressed up in Eliya the Label and loved swishing around in the tassel skirt!

Harvey the Label: Harvey the Label always have pieces that are highly on-trend, so we were so excited to pick a few pieces up from their Rundle Street store! We fell in love with the black-and-white print garments, including a simple wrap dress (pictured in the last images) and a long, tight shirt dress (which can be seen worn at the AFF launch here). Kristen rocked the monochrome skirt with a slogan white tee; and yes, that is the ultimate street style look of 2017 if you’re asking.

Dark Thorn: Mel has admittedly been wearing the Dark Thorn skull print tee ever since she picked it up. It goes with practically anything: a pair of jeans, a mini skirt, a pleat skirt, a pair of shorts… the list goes on! It is also super quality cotton material, with a thickness that still allows the skin to breathe.

Onio Boutique: Onio Boutique are one of our favourite boutiques at the moment as they are affordable and bang on trend with everything they do. Kristen’s brand new favourite wardrobe item is the fluffy Frio the Label jacket from Onio, which she paired with a floral dress to wear to the Mercedes Benz Unley Long Lunch. Mel wore a lace-up leather skirt which matched wonderfully when styled with the Dark Thorn tee and a statement gold jacket.

David Jones: DJs dressed us in some of the best Australian designers for AFF’s David Jones Runway, with Mel rocking a glittering Camilla and Marc gold cami alongside a sparkly Manning Cartel skirt. Kristen knew how to strut her stuff in an intricate Self Portrait dress and a Camilla and Marc blazer draped elegantly over her shoulders.

Style Secret Handbag Hire: And as for bags… is there anywhere else we’d look? Style Secret Handbag Hire is quite simply one of the most professional services we have come across, and their selection of bags cover all sorts, from Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and so much more.
