It’s time to #forkcancer – quite literally! On Saturday 18th of June, we were accompanied by Masterchef contestants Nidhi Mahajan, Adam Mizzi and Jessie Spiby to join The Longest Table in Adelaide, all to raise money for cancer.
The Longest Table is an organisation that encourages people to host a foodie event (or attend one) that can be anything from ordering pizza with friends to a lovingly prepared feast with your family. Guests of the event are then encouraged to donate money towards cancer research, whether it be a set amount per person or simply asking people to donate what they think the meal was worth.
Westfield Westlakes teamed up with Cheese Co., Baker’s Delight, Café Brunelli and San Churro Chocolateria to create the perfect weekend lunch for the Westlakes community. Anyone could register to attend this free event, and all Westlakes asked was that people donated what they thought the meal was worth.
Michele Lok, the Marketing Manager of The Longest Table hopes that cancer might end through the funds collected at The Longest Table, as it’s a fun event that builds a sense of community while encouraging people to donate to cancer research. The three beneficiary charities included; The Australian Breast Cancer Research, Australian Prostate Cancer and the National Hospital Research Foundation.
The starters included a delectable assorted platter from Cheese Co., the mains were freshly cooked pasta con pollo by Café Brunelli, and we were finished off with a chocolatey truffle from San Churro’s. The Masterchef contestants were readily available to have a chat about food, and their journey, whilst they dined with local shoppers.
There is still time for you to host your own The Longest Table event, or donate to someone else’s. Head to their website for more info.
