Make a statement on your next beach trip in Popvil

Although it may not feel a lot like summer right now (play nice now, La Niña), we’re still planning plenty of beach trips in true summer fashion. Rain or no rain, there’s nothing like a good dip in the ocean to refresh and revitalise. Living a stone’s throw away from Sydney’s iconic eastern beaches, we’re fortunate enough to have the sand and the sea at our fingertips. Who wouldn’t take advantage of that, even on a moody, cloudy day? And if that isn’t reason enough alone to pay a visit, then what about flaunting our brand new swimsuits?

Our exciting new stuff is from an online swimwear store called Popvil, which we haven’t yet styled with before. Boasting striking prints and bold hues, the range promotes classically flattering silhouettes for all body types. Supportive, staple, statement. These are the three S’s we use to describe Popvil’s designs. Oh yeah, and did we mention they’re seriously affordable? Both bikinis and one-pieces average around $30 each, a total steal.

The selection includes swimsuits and separates, as well as tankinis, cover-ups, surf suits, and beach dresses. It’s quite an extensive range, with sizes ranging between S-XXL. Recently, we were sent a bunch of goodies to try on, so we thought we’d get out there and photoshoot with our latest swim haul.

Mel picked out a one-piece swimsuit and a bikini set to add to her summer rotation. The Colour-Lump Patchwork Purple Bikini Set is giving us 80’s swimwear vibes with its high-cut leg and hot pink colour block detail. Its thong coverage is also a little racy, which Mel always loves in a bikini. Supportive with padding and adjustable straps, the top is a comfortable fit for her bigger bust.

The Belt V Neck Ruffle Blue One-piece Swimsuit really drew Mel’s eye before all else on Popvil’s website. It’s a design that is so classic, so flattering and so chic, it almost looks too beautiful to get ruined by the sun and salty sea! With frills for a feminine touch and a cinching belt to the waistline, this silhouette streamlines a curvy figure to perfection. We love the low rise back and deep, plunging V-neckline. Anyone else feel it could pass as a bodysuit, too? Mel likes to style this swimsuit with frayed denim shorts and slides for an effortlessly chic beachside outfit.

Kristen fell in love with the V Neck Leopard Printed Red Bikini Set, which is a style statement in its own right. It features a deep V-neckline and thick supporting straps, as well as a high waist brief for extra coverage to the stomach. The fabrication is smoothing and feels quite durable — this actually goes for all of the swimsuits we picked — which we didn’t expect for such affordable prices!

To pair with her bikini, she chose the flattering Backless Knit Side Slit Cover-Up. This beach dress features a mesh fabrication to showcase the bold print of your favourite bikini underneath. With its stylish distressing and sexy side splits, it’s giving us The Little Mermaid vibes… you know the scene, where Ariel tries to make clothes out of old shipwrecked fabric ?. That’s in the best way possible, we might add.

Overall, we were actually quite pleasantly surprised with the quality and cuts, given that we hadn’t styled with Popvil before. We found their stuff super flattering for the both of us, and we both have very different body types. If you want to check them out, be sure to visit the online store and make sure you get on board with their Christmas sale! Who can say no to buy 3, get 1 free!?
