Unplotted Potter

For all Harry Potter fanatics out there looking for a Fringe show, you’ll be pleased to know that Unplotted Potter is one that certainly keeps the magic alive in this totally improvised theatre show.

In just an hour, the six-member cast of Unplotted Potter explore the wizarding world of Hogwarts through the eyes of minor characters. If you’ve ever wanted to know the completely outrageous ways in which Argus Filch became the groundskeeper or how Irma Pince came to being the librarian, you might see it here. There is just one catch, however, Unplotted Potter introduces you to new characters every night, meaning that the story is never the same. Of course this is only an advantage, as you can see it over and over and never see the same thing!

The actors’ improvisation lead to some sidesplitting scenes, and the characters just roll with it, making no attempt to hide the awkward moments. When the plot seemed as if it were coming to a dead end, the actors would re-arrange the stage and begin another scene.

Without throwing the original plot aside, Unplotted Potter incorporates Hogwarts traditions throughout. If you’re a die-hard fan, this show will bring back all your favourite memories from Harry Potter in the most ridiculous but hilarious ways.

Unplotted Potter had the audience on its toes with every line, as we never knew what was about to happen. The actors bounced off each other throughout the play, leaving the audience applauding with each scene.

With a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5 from me, I’ll certainly be seeing this show again within the next week to see what twists and turns the cast make next.]

Playing at the Tandanya theatre until Sunday March 13th, you can grab your tickets here.

Mischief managed!
